David Segundo David Peralta, also known as Mate Cocido (after the infusion of the same name), born in 1897 in Monteros, Tucumán Province,[1] was a redoubtable Argentine outlaw robber of trains, banks and rural bandit in north-eastern Argentina. In January 1940, he was shot in the hip by armed guards while collecting the ransom from the kidnapping of a rancher in Villa Berthet, Chaco province. He was never seen again, and is believed that he died from his wounds.
A Leon Gieco's song[2] about the rural bandits in Argentina tells part of his story.
